Plastic Bag Book Covers

Ok, so it might not be 'back to school time' but as someone who writes tones of notes I go through heaps of notebooks and art journals. One of my favourite things to do is cover my books so I feel inspired to write and draw in them. Recently I've discovered this new way to decorate and I thought I'd share it with you!

You will need~
  • Some sort of book
  • A plastic shopping bag with a graphic design (Show bags work really well)
  • Scissors
  • Glue (PVA or spray adhesive)
  • A ruler

First split the bag down the sides and lay flat, then place the book on top. Cut out a rectange big enough to cover the front and back covers with about a 4-5cm over hang for all edges. Make diagonal cuts where the book corners would touch the bag corners.
If you're using PVA glue; cover the boring side of the bag in glue, position on the book and smooth out wrinkles with a ruler. Turn over and fold over the over hang. Keep scissor handy incase you need to make more cuts (such as fitting in the spine!).

The process is the same for spray adhesive, but remember to follow the directions on the can first and foremost.

...and you're done!

I hope you enjoy your newly covered books :)

xx
