All Mixed Up

Once upon a time...

my pencil case got a hole. Then the zip stuck. I decided to sew my own, something I've been doing ever since. I just love coming up with the patterns and fitting exactly what I need into the case.

Just a few weeks ago I lost my current pencil case! It wasn't at school, it wasn't at home- I didn't have a clue where it'd got to (in fact, it and all it's contents are still missing).

Carrying around all my pens in a hairband at the bottom of my bag really wasn't working out. I decided to whip up a cassette themed case and I'm pretty pleased with the results...

I even added gold lining but I only had an ugly green zip.

There's something really special about making functional objects and it's fun to be able to carry some of my art to school each day. Cassette tapes are technically an 80's thing, but they were part of my childhood too! I had so many storybooks and Wiggles songs on tape as well as my own little primary coloured deck.

Did you have cassette tapes growing up?

xx
