I saw Delaney's post on creating tassels and that reminded me- I love tassels! I thought I might make my own tassel craft but with a twist just to mix it up a bit...
You will need~
- Embroidery thread
- Scissors
- Marker in a strong contrasting colour (from the thread)
- Earring backs
So first you must decide how big your tassels are going to be- I thought my fingers were a good guide and did about twenty loops (front to back).
Then you can slip the loops off whatever your guide was and tie them together at the top with a thread.
Take another thread and tie it tightly around the threads quite close to the top, wind it a few times (keep it tight) and then tie off. I did this by knotting the thread twice (basically tucking the end through the loop I just made and repeating.
After that you can cut the threads and trim the edges.
Now make such your surface is ok to get messy! Take a marker ( a really vibrant one) and make strokes from about half way to the bottom of the tassel. Keep flipping and changing it's position until you're happy with the saturation!
Use the thread at the top to tie the tassel to the earring back, try to hide the knot as best you can. I used clip-ons because I don't have pierced ears even though I'm 15.
Repeat for a pair of earrings.
I hope you all have a lovely week.
xx
